Wonder Is Where Discovery Begins

As children, we ask endless questions.

Why is the sky blue?

How do birds know where to fly?

What makes the stars shine?

Somewhere along the way, many of us stop asking. We begin to accept that the world simply is as it appears.

Yet history tells a different story.

Every meaningful discovery began because someone refused to lose their sense of wonder. Scientists, physicians, explorers, and inventors all shared one remarkable characteristic: they remained curious long after others had stopped looking.

Wonder is not the opposite of science.

It is its beginning.

Wonder invites us to look a little closer.

To observe before we conclude.

To remain open without abandoning reason.

Perhaps that is one of the greatest gifts we can give ourselves—not the confidence of believing we know everything, but the humility to recognize there is always more to discover.

After all, the world has not become less mysterious.

We have simply become less accustomed to noticing.

And perhaps that’s where discovery begins.
